Selena's Thoughts: This series is one I started sometime ago. I actually feel as though I have waited a century for this book. The second book of this series left me holding my breath.

Emma has been through so much in her life. The death of her father having been a pivitol point for her, everything around her seemed to come crashing down. She was left, at a young age, with her Uncle and the woman who ripped every bit of childhood away from Emma. She was the saving grace that kept Emma sane. Until Emma meets Evan and she decides to live. She wants to be a normal girl with a normal life. And she wants to love this boy who has captured her heart. Evan soon finds out Emma's biggest secret, it is finally in the open and he and Sara are going to help Emma. Then the unthinkable happens and the first book leaves you gasping for breath.

Emma is finally out of the hell she has been living in and is at peace living with Sara/ She is happy, she and Evan are in love and everything is going great. She seems to be finally getting her life back. Until her mother shows up and suddenly Emma's life is turned upside down again. She is torn between the life of happiness that is write at her finger tips and the mother she longs to know. When her mother begins to spiral into binder after binder she also becomes verbally/emotionally abusive. Emma's heart is torn into pieces and Evan is her safe place. When her mother begins to date Johnathan everything changes, suddenly Emma finds someone she can relate to. She can talk to him about things she has never been able to talk to anyone about. But Johnathan is dangerous and her soon begins to show his true colors, and Emma begins to doubt everything. With her mother constantly telling her she is poison and Johnathan making her feel like no one can understand her like he can, Emma runs. She runs from her mother, Johnathan and even Evan. I was devasted and I knew that waiting for the final nook was going to be torture.

When I picked up Out of Breath I knew it was going to be emotional. I knew my heart was going to break a million times and I also knew I would love it. Since page one of this series I have been emotionally tied to these characters and to finally see Emma start to find her way back was spectacular. This book is raw and heartbreaking and absolutely perfection. It leaves you talking out loud to the pages the whole time you are reading and in the end when only a few pages remain you are once again holding your breath for what will happen next.

Selena's Thoughts: Wait For You by J. Lynn

5 Stars

Some things are worth waiting for . . .

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at that fateful Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. What she never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she's building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing . . .

Cameron Hamilton is six feet, three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, com-plete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make Avery want things she believed had been irrevocably stolen from her. Getting involved with him is dangerous. Yet ignoring the simmering tension that sparks between them—and brings out a side of her she never knew existed—is impossible.

Some things shouldn't be kept quiet . . .

But when Avery starts receiving threatening e-mails and phone calls, she's forced to face a past she wants to keep buried and acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. If the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface with one less scar? And will Cam be there to help her?

And some things are worth fighting for . . .

Selena's thoughts: I have been keeping an eye out of the feedback for this book for sometime. I had been so bogged down with my TBR that I had not yet been able to purchase and read. Cue NA Crush Tourney (naalley.com) ..... I kept seeing all these book guys that I haven't met yet going up against the ones who I LOVE and I thought to myself -- "Ok, if they are even remotely on the same level, I HAVE TO READ!!" So when Cam vs Kellan came up, I immediately bought Wait for You.

Let's just say that even at 4 am I was so taken in by this book that I would not put it down. I am currently medicating with caffeine whilst writing this review *yawn*. I loved this book from beginning to end. Whether she is writing as J. Lynn or Jennifer L. Armentrout this woman can write her ass off. She has such a way of creating a story that is both captivating and fun.

When Avery runs into the brick wall known as Cameron Hamilton I knew I was going to fall hard for this guy. Cam was a hottie from word one and then he smiled .... DIMPLE .... I was done for. Cam is the cocky boy next door (literally) and Avery is the girl that shoots him down every single time. Their friendship is fun and easy, like they were born to be a part of each other's lives. The only thing standing in the way of them becoming more, is the fact that Avery is dealing with an inner turmoil. But she isn't the only one. Both believe their secrets will be their downfall. They just have to trust one another enough to see how strong their relationship really is.

I highly recommend this book

Selena's Thoughts: Hyde by Lauren Stewart

4 Stars

To survive, they must embrace what they most despise . . . in themselves and each other.

Mitch Turner is everything women want most in a man charismatic, successful, drop-dead gorgeous. Except he’s not a man—he’s a monster.

The only way Mitch can protect others from his monstrous side is to stop them from getting too close…that and a 7x7 foot cage. Isolated by his genetic curse, he spends his life hurting people emotionally, driving them away before Hyde can harm them physically. But, after a night of the best sex Mitch has ever had, he realizes that might be impossible. Except the woman he was with claims she doesn’t remember any of it.

Eden Colfax is everything men want most, men other than Mitch, that is. She’s kind, honest to a fault and sickeningly sweet. To rid herself of the monsters that haunted her broken childhood, Eden doesn’t lie, doesn’t curse, and definitely never wakes up naked in strangers’ beds…until the day she does.

Then the flashbacks start—places she’s never been, people she’s never met, blood she’s never spilled. She discovers she’s split into two parts—the woman she thought she knew and another who is capable of anything. And the only person with any answers is the one man she never wants to see again.

What neither of them know is that someone is watching them both, manipulating them, determined to see just how evil the two of them really are. And when the truth begins to seep through the cracks, leaving them nowhere to turn but each other, they will be forced into a partnership neither had expected.

Because in life, who you trust is as important as who you are. And when you can’t even trust yourself, sometimes the only person you can rely on is the last person on Earth you should be falling for.

*** An Urban Fantasy novel intended for adults only, as it includes lots of cursing, descriptive sex, biting sarcasm, and themes similar to those in Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, from which this story was inspired.

Selena's Thoughts: Who has the Heart by Tania Edddingsaas

Who Has the Heart? features three separate but intertwined romantic tales. Rob Walker, a college athlete, Bridgett LeMond, a reclusive author, and Duncan Adams, a British actor, share in their own words their personal stories of romance.

Rob Walker -

My plan was to avoid women and lay low my senior year. I just wanted to focus on winning a basketball tournament, graduating, and getting drafted into the NBA. But as the saying goes, as soon as you stop trying to meet someone, you’ll meet someone, because out of the blue I met Beth LeMond. It’s weird, but ever since, my life is looking like the complex story-line in The Tale Trilogy novels and it’s killing me! All I need now is patience, as I wait to see how my ‘Tale of Romance’ will end.

Bridgett LeMond -

I secretly made a fortune writing The Tale Trilogy under a pen name. But even with all my success, I find myself struggling with insecurities. I finally managed to leave my old boyfriend and get a place of my own, because I don’t mind living alone. However, now it seems my new good-looking neighbor has taken an interest in me. Yeah right! I don’t believe it for a second! Why would a hot professional quarterback be interested in me? I know for a fact relationships in real life can never live up to the romantic story found in my novel.

Duncan Adams -

I was a completely unknown actor when I was discovered in a tiny theatre in London and offered the lead role in the Hollywood blockbuster series entitled, The Tale Trilogy. Once I moved to Los Angeles and filming began, I've become a huge star, and now my life is absolute madness! For instance, after the break-up with my beautiful co-star, my Director had the gall to arrange these ghastly public appearances for me. Why isn't it obvious to the Tale fans that this is all a publicity stunt? What a load of rubbish! Thank goodness my new personal assistant isn't a complete nutter. She has introduced me to a talented musical composer and as a result I have found my true passion in life. Now I have to find the faith to follow my heart.

When the three come together on the live television morning program, The Lucinda Michaels Show, secrets are revealed and second chances are offered in the surprising conclusion that will leave readers wondering: Who Has the Heart?

Check out Christine's interview with Evan Blackstone

My name is Christine Amsden, author of the new urban fantasy novel Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective. This first volume in a (completed) four-part series introduces us to Cassie, the ungifted daughter of powerful sorcerers. Amidst mystery, romance, and family feuds, this "new adult" series shows us that there are many types of strength, and many ways to be a hero.

With me today is a more traditional hero from the novel. It is my great pleasure to welcome Evan Blackwood, a young sorcerer with a great deal of talent and potential. Plus, he's really good looking, even if I did create him myself! :)
The 21-year-old Evan hails from Eagle Rock, MO, where the existence of magic is accepted, if not exactly understood. Evan, like most sorcerers in the area, is tight-lipped when it comes to what he can do and how powerful he is, but he graciously agreed to talk to me as long as I don't try to pry into his family secrets.

Christine: Evan, thank you for being here. I understand you've known our heroine, Cassie, for a long time. How did you two meet?

Evan: Cassie and I met in the first grade. I had never been to school or spent much time around other kids, and I made a fool of myself. She helped me out. Took me on as a project, you could say. That's sort of her style.

Christine: Did you know at the time that your fathers were enemies?

Evan: No. I was six, and I don't think I was that aware of what my father did unless it had something to do with me. He told me later in the year, but by then it was way too late.

Christine: So you and Cassie have remained friends this whole time?

Evan: Sort of. Things got a little awkward after I accidentally sent  Paul Ellerson to the hospital. She never said so, but I think she was a little afraid of me after that. She was hardly alone. She got over it, but between that and some rumors that started flying around about me, we weren't quite as close in high school as we were before.

Christine: Are you talking about the rumors that you cast love spells?

Evan: (Glares) Yes. Those rumors.

Christine: Sorry. Sore spot. I assume they weren't true?

Evan: Do you have any other question?

Christine: Where have you been for the past three years? After high school, you kind of fell off the map.

Evan: Magical apprenticeship. Henry Wolf took me on.

Christine: Henry Wolf? Isn't he a little crazy? Lives in a cabin in the woods with no running water or electricity?

Evan: He's brilliant. He just thinks modern gizmos interfere with magic.

Christine: Is that true?

Evan: The first thing I'm going to do when I finish my apprenticeship is buy a cell phone. Then watch movies, starting with the Star Wars trilogy. The original trilogy, not the prequels.

Christine: Why do you like Star Wars so much?

Evan: It's a great fantasy. Good on one side. Evil on the other. I wish the real world was so easy to figure out.

Christine: Is there anything in particular you're trying to figure out?

Evan: Lost of things. But mostly, I worry because of the way my father and Cassie's father hate one another. They both think they're right and the other is wrong. I suppose I should side with my family and I do, but I wish I didn't have to pick a side at all.

Christine: Because you're in love with Cassie?

Evan: I didn't say that.

Christine: No, of course not. So, what are your future plans? After you watch Star Wars, that is?

Evan: I want to do some good in the world. I've got a few ideas, but nothing concrete yet. There are a few things I need to work out first.

Christine: And those few things are...?

Evan: Private.

Christine: I see. And I will leave you to that privacy, but first I have one last question. Is there any advice you would be willing to give us about how to deal with sorcerers?

Evan: Don't.

Christine: What if we can't avoid it?

Evan: (Pauses) Ivy. Plant some ivy to protect your home. And don't leave any blood lying around.

Christine: Those sound like good tips. Thank you for sharing your secrets.

Evan: They aren't secrets. You can learn some basic magical self-protection on the Internet. Although there's a lot of crazy stuff, too.

Christine: Any way to know the difference?

Evan: For the average person? Not really. But the average person probably isn't going to be in danger. It's far worse if you have a tiny bit of talent you don't know what to do with.

Christine: That sounds like something we should talk about when the next book comes out. I hope we'll see you back then.

Evan: Wait. What happens in the next book?

Christine: Don't worry about it. You've got to survive the first book first.

Evan: My grandmother is a seer, you know.

Christine: I know. I created her, too. But there are so many possible futures, I don't know how much she'll be able to help you. I did rewrite the series several times, after all.

Evan: (Glares again) I got to go. Master Wolf is calling me.

Christine: Well then, you'd better go. Thank you so much for being here with me today.

Evan: You aren't going to hurt Cassie, are you?

Christine: Henry Wolf is calling you.

Evan: All right, but for the record, we're not done.

Christine: Absolutely not.

Blog tour: Lick by Kylie Scott, Review, Author Posting and Giveaway

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5 Stars
Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.
Evelyn Thomas's plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.
One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll's favourite son is sure to be a wild ride
Selena's Thoughts; Ok, so you all know I love Kylie Scott right? And you all know that her books Flesh and Skin are two of my most favorite books ever, right? Well, this book has pretty much sealed my love for her into a full on girly crush.... not like that get your heads outta the gutter!!! I am talking the kind of crush a girl gets on an author after she creates the most yummtastic man ever, yep THAT kind.
I knew before I started reading this book I was gonna love it (please refer to aforementioned love fest). Kylie has a way of sucking her readers into the story and making them wish it would never end. I loved this book from page one.
Evelyn wakes up on the bathroom floor feeling like death and right in front of her is the most beautiful man she has ever seen and she has NO CLUE who he is..... SURPRISE!!! David Ferris stands before her the picture of perfection and every woman's fantasy. And again she has NO CLUE who he is. But she is soon going to find out that not EVERYTHING that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
Taking this journey of getting to know you was truly rocking. I can't wait til book two in this series and I keeping my fingers crossed that it is about who I how it is *ohpleaseohpleaseohplease*
Want an excerpt?? Of course you do!!!!
He angled his head and kissed me, his lips firm and so good. My eyes closed and my mouth opened. The taste of him took me over. The mint of his toothpaste and the slide of his tongue against mine. All of it was past perfect. He lay me back against the stairs. The new bruise at the back of my head throbbed in protest when I bumped it yet again. I flinched but didn’t stop. David cupped the back of my skull, guarding against further injury.
The weight of his body held me in place, not that I was trying to escape. The edge of the steps pressed into my back and I could care less. I’d have happily lain there for hours with him above me, the warm scent of his skin making me high. His hips held my legs wide open. If not for my jeans and his towel things would get interesting fast. God, I hated cotton just then.
We didn’t once break the kiss. My legs wrapped around his waist and my hands curved around his shoulders. Nothing had ever felt this good. The ache in me for him increased and caught fire, spreading right through me. My legs tightened around him, muscles burning. I couldn’t get close enough. Talk about frustrating. His mouth moved over my jaw and down my neck, lighting me up from inside. He bit and licked, finding sensitive spots below my ear and in the crook of my neck. Places I hadn’t known I had. The man had magic. He knew things I didn’t. Where he’d learned his tricks didn’t matter. Not right then.
“Up,” he said in a rough voice. Slowly he stood, one hand beneath my ass and the other still protecting my skull.
“David.” I scrambled to tighten my hold on his back.
“Hey.” He drew back just enough to look into my eyes. His pupils were huge, almost swallowing the sky-blue iris whole. “I am not going to drop you. That’s never going to happen.”
I took a deep breath. “Okay.”
“You trust me?”
“Yes.”
“Good.” His hand slid down my back. “Now put your arms around my neck
Author Posting -- 12 Fun Facts About Kylie Scott
For these fun facts about me, I thought I would take the opportunity to set the record straight. The thing is, LICK is entirely based upon my real life experiences. Let me now prove this...
1. I once dated a guitarist. Okay, it was only for about five minutes. But he was really hot and he had a tattoo and everything.
2. I play guitar. I’ll have you know I do a rockin’ rendition of “Closer to Fine” by the Indigo Girls. Only rarely do I forget half the lyrics and what chord comes next.
3. I’ve experienced the stifling loneliness and the weight of expectation that comes with having a fan. This one time at a romance reader’s convention, a woman knew who I was and was quite excited to meet me.
4. I have experience with stalking. It has yet to be legally proven that I then stalked said female fan insisting she never read anyone else but me.
You’re not buying any of this, are you? Fair enough. Let’s try again... some fun facts about me.
5. I’ve always been obsessed with books and music. Eskimo Joe, Ani Di Franco, and Kings of Leon are some of my fave music artists. Recently, “Reapers Property” by Joanna Wylde, and “Sweet Dreams” by Kristen Ashley most recently in the books department. Because guys that ride motorcycles are hot. RAWR.
6. My favourite colour is blue. Basically everything I own is blue. This makes shopping and getting dressed pretty damn easy.
7. Vodka.
8. I love tattoos and am currently working on a half-sleeve.
9. I’ve been a secretary, bartender, nanny, housekeeper, shop-assistant, and a florist. Being a writer is the best job by far.
10. Whenever my husband busts me looking at male models I get to tell him it is for “research”. (Note: I’m not saying he believes me.) This is why being a romance writer rocks.
11. People that read and write romance are some of the best damn people in the whole wide world. This is another reason why being a romance writer rocks.
12. Clowns scare me. It’s probably a Stephen King thing. I dunno. But seriously, they look freaky, right? Tell me I’m not alone with this.
Release Date: June 22, 2013
5 Stars
Even a broken heart has trouble resisting a Stubborn Love. Emmie Hayes loved the beautiful Ashton Stirling deeply; nobody could deny that. She had given him her youth, and all he gave in return was misery and pain. She was ready for a new beginning, but Ashton wasn’t about to let her go so easily, even if it meant destroying both their lives in the process. Three years later Emmie convinces herself she is ready to leave all of that heartbreak in the past and find a little piece of normal for herself. She heads to New York City to pick up where she left off, determined to finish art school. Emmie is determined to focus on school and not let anything distract her, but life has a way of throwing curveballs. Paige, Emmie’s new roommate, brings Colin Bennett into her life. His smoldering eyes and lean muscular body are difficult for any girl to ignore. Only thing is, Emmie isn’t any girl. Her past makes her resistant to his charms. Colin isn’t one to give up easily, and just when he thinks he may have found a way to her stubborn heart, her tragic history may have found a way to tear them apart.
Ashley's Thoughts; Ok, first of all, WOW! From the prologue to the last sentence of the last chapter, Stubborn Love is wonderful! Now don't take my lack of vocabulary as a draw back. My wonderful is everything you want to do find in a good book and more. It's a fabulous portrayal of how "love" can go horribly wrong, and how someone can find true love after everything that can go wrong actually does. Author, Wendy Owens, tells this tale so eloquently, it seems real. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book!
Excerpt;
“Are you all right?” he asked, staring at me as if he were inspecting me for damages.
“Umm—“ Really? Umm, is all you can come up with? I internally scolded myself.
Instead of delivering an intelligent line, I stared blankly. The man was gorgeous in a rugged and mischievous way. His eyes were dark, his stubble just beginning to show, his jawline wide and strong, a dimple on one cheek. He kept his chestnut hair trimmed tight on the sides, but the top slightly messed. I’m not sure what came over me in that moment, but I lifted a single hand and fell forward, using his firm chest to catch myself.
What was I doing? I had now succumbed to groping a complete stranger.
“You seem lightheaded, come sit,” he followed up, taking my arm and leading me to a nearby stone column, the perfect height for sitting.
Yeah, lightheaded! I thought. I decided I’d run with that. “I’m so sorry, I don’t know what’s wrong with me—“
“Stryker,” the man said, as if spewing some sort of cryptic code at me.
“Pardon me?” I asked.
“My name … it’s Stryker. William Stryker, but all my friends call me Stryker.”
I’m not sure what possessed me to say the next thing that came out of my mouth. I blame Paige. Somehow, in a short amount of time she had managed to corrupt me. “Well, since we’re strangers what should I call you?” In my mind I kept thinking Mr. Sexy Pants seemed appropriate.
“What?” he asked, a puzzled look on his face.
I couldn’t even deliver the line correctly. “I just meant—since I don’t know you, we’re not friends, and therefore I can’t call you Stryker, what should I call you instead?”
Yup, I had actually managed to make it worse.
“Well, how about you call me Stryker, too?”
“Sounds good,” I replied, giving up on being clever.
“What’s your name?” he asked, handing me my phone.
“Clementine,” I answered, smiling. He didn’t react the way people normally did to my name. I usually got an, ‘Oh, isn’t that unique.’ The best, of course, were the ones who joked, ‘Didn’t your mom love you?’ Instead he just nodded.
“Well, I hope to see you around, Clementine,” he added, turning and walking toward the entrance to the school.
“Thanks,” I called out after him, like a complete dork. What had gotten into me? It was like I had never seen a hot guy before. Apparently all of the guys in New York were hotties, but that was beside the point. I wasn’t interested in men, even if they did make me lose temporary control of my senses. I was there to get my degree and that’s it—nothing else. Certainly nothing that would involve sexy men.
Amazon Stubborn Love is currently availabe for .99 (during tour dates only)
