My Thoughts; Wow, I don't even know how to begin this review. I read this book after a friend's recommendation. At first I was intrigued, then disgusted, then intrigued again, then disgusted with myself. I had so many conflicting emotions while reading this book that I had no idea how I felt. It has now been a week since reading and I am still supremely conflicted.
Livvie is just a girl afraid of becoming exactly like her mother. Her biggest fear is being labeled a whore and that is exactly what Caleb intends for her to become ... only worse, she has no choice in the matter. Caleb has lived the life he is sentencing Livvie too. And even though he knows exactly what type of hell he is condemning her too, he continues with his quest for the ultimate revenge.
There are so many times during this book that I find myself really loving Caleb. I see bits and pieces of the man he most likely would have become had he had the chance. But then I also am so completely and utterly put off by him. How can a person disgust you while simultaneously making your heart flutter?? That is the question that plagued me through this entire book. To quote a friend .... 'It is a total mindf**k' I had to put it down and just walk away at times because the book is so intense that your brain needs a break. I would definitely recommend this book, but I will caution anyone who wants to read it ... PLEASE read the authors warning. (listed above)
