Review; Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

5+ Stars

    I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shape shifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.
Former piano prodigy Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to get through high school without anyone learning about her past and to make the boy who took everything from her—her identity, her spirit, her will to live—pay.

    Josh Bennett’s story is no secret: every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. Now all he wants is be left alone and people allow it because when your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.

   Everyone except Nastya, the mysterious new girl at school who starts showing up and won’t go away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But the more he gets to know her, the more of an enigma she becomes. As their relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding—or if he even wants to.
The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miracle of second chances.

   I received this book as an ARC. Paperback release by Atria books will be June 4, 2013. It is currently available at Amazon kindle store.

   My thoughts;  Sometimes I read a book and I give it a few stars say it was great and recommend to everyone I know. Then other times I read a book and wish that I had more than 5 little stars so I give it a +. Then I read a book like this, one where I feel that no amount of stars and no amount of +'s will ever express how I felt while reading.

   This story was equally emotional and heart warming. One moment my heart is breaking for the characters and the next I was smiling at the joy or nonsense they are sharing. This may be be a story about falling in love and it may be a story about dealing with demons from your past, but mostly, it is a story about rebirth and salvation. I closed this book with tears in my eyes and then had a few more just to mourn the ending of a good book. I do tend to love most books I read, but only a few touch me on a level that this book did. Thank you Katja Millay for such a beautiful experience.

Troubles & Treats Promo Blitz and Review!!!

Troubles and Treats by Tara Sivec

            5+ Stars

   Drew and Jenny have spent years being the envy of their friends with their out of control sex lives - well, not really. Mostly it makes their friends want to throw up in their mouths a little.

   With two little kids and two busy lives, for the first time, Drew and Jenny aren't on the same page in the bedroom. Drew will stop at nothing to get his previously amorous wife back in the sack and Jenny will do anything for a full night of sleep.

   Carter and Claire, and Jim and Liz are their usual (un)helpful selves and are full of advice for the disconnected duo, wanting nothing more than to help restore order to the usually happy couple's lives.

  In the third and final installment of the Chocolate Lovers Series, will Drew and Jenny find the spark that's been missing in their marriage, or will the trouble they're having cause a stickier situation than the time Jenny poured honey all over Drew and he fused himself to a tree?

****

   My thoughts; Raise your hand if you have read Seduction and Snacks. Now raise your other hand if you have read Futures and Frosting. Now... if you are sitting there with both hands raised; First, put them down you look like a fool. And second, you MUST read Troubles and Treats. This was a totally fitting and EPIC end to a wonderful series.

   This book has everything that the first two books has and more. Spending time with Drew and Jenny was so much fun. They are both ridiculous and I love them immensely! You get to follow along with them as they face the same troubles that all new parents face.

   I found myself relating to Jenny on a personal level. I have been there done that and NEVER want to return. My kids are 16 and 12, so long gone are the days of diapers and sleepless nights. Now it is all about trying to argue with a twelve years old and still sound like an adult. I also came to realize that it is quite possible that I am married to Drew. He has changed his name but I am pretty convinced that he and my husband are one and the same.

   It should go without saying that I laughed uncontrollably while reading Troubles and Treats. I got dirty looks from aforementioned husband for waking him up at an ungodly hour because I could not contain my laughter. I redeemed myself by reading him a few passages. He did not cackle like a hyena the way I was but he definitely laughed. ^,^

   "I have to say that the ending of this book was perfect. The way Tara chose to write it is amazing. I had real tears in my eyes as it came to an end. And I will forever hope that one day we will see more from this group of friends."

   I look forward to more from Tara Sivec in the future. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Be sure to read all the way to the end for a chance to win a totally awesome prize

   I thought it would be a bunch of arguing and pointing fingers about whose fault it is that we’re not having sex anymore.

  Maybe she doesn't think that’s the problem.  Shit, maybe that isn’t the problem.  Maybe it’s just my problem.  She’s not faking a work injury, she’s not cheating on me…what the hell else could it be?  A few years ago she cut me off from sex for a week because I gave her a Dutch Oven in bed one night.  While hilarious, it’s never a good idea when your wife is naked and getting ready to mount you. There was another time when I gave her a Wet Willy when she started coming.

  That wasn't meant to be hilarious, I read about it in Cosmo.  When she locked me out of
the bedroom I grabbed the magazine and realized two of the pages were stuck together -
sex tips and practical jokes.  Well played, Cosmo.  Well played.

  My relief only lasted so long before I realized that he had positioned himself directly across the circle from me so that every time I lifted my head I couldn't help but see him and his I-can -make-you-a-woman eyes and his I-know-what-you-look-like- under-your-clothes smirk.

  The only three things I know for certain happened last night are that one, small elves climbed up my body and tied my hair into a mass of knots; two, I must have slept with my mouth open because something crawled into it and died; and three, I was sucked through a vortex into some animated world where an avil was dropped on my head.

My Thoughts; So after spending two days looking pretty much like this........

 I am now feeling like this......

   Wow is pretty much all I can say at the moment. I was drawn into this book from the first chapter and there was no way I was getting out. I am totally, infuriatingly in love with Jesse Ward. He is definitely making my swoon worthy male list. Ok YES, it is a very long list (don't judge me), but he is definitely working his way to the top. I can't at this moment even wrap my head around how I am feeling. I was taken on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Up and down back and forth and I may have even been flipped upside-down for a bit.

   Ava, while I love the strong willed woman that she can be, has such insecurities  She needs to stop letting her past interfere with her current relationship. She needs to be honest and open and not so closed off. Jesse, oh Jesse, what can I say. I love a damaged male. I am such a sucker. This book is filled to the covers with the angst and love and heartache and sexy times that i love in a book.

   I feel a physical need for the next book in this series. January can't come soon enough.

   'I look forward to hearing from you, Ava.' His husky voice rolls over my flesh as he joins me at the bottom of the stair, putting his hand out. I take it in mine for fear that if I don't, he may well clench me and place his lips on me again.
   'You have a lovely hotel.' I say genuinely.
 I'm beginning to wish that my handbag contents consisted of a spare pair of knickers, a blindfold, ear plugs and some armor. I might have been more prepared.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Just tell me one thing before you leave, Ava.' His voice prickles at my senses, and I  find my eyes travelling up the leanness of his body until our stares meet. His face is serious, but still stunning. 'How loud do you think you'll scream when I f*ck you?'
Review: Lust on Tap by Liz Crowe
3.5/4 Stars
When brewery owner Dustin Prufrock meets sexy saleswoman Helena Turner, sparks fly—angry sparks. They seem destined to clash, until a hot hookup in a cold beer cooler changes everything.
For Dustin, it’s a life-changing moment that sets him on a path away from his birthright, while Helena faces her fears about committing to a man considered the playboy of the micro-brewing world. The power of preconceived notions nearly tears them apart—until they meet up with Dustin’s friend Erik, who provides an erotic and emotional connection that completes them all.
But fate has different plans. When Dustin is forced to honor his responsibilities as heir to a large business, Helena and Erik are thrown together in an attempt to run Dustin’s brewery. Now the strength and trust of their once-balanced threesome has been shattered…and mutual lust might not be enough to keep them all together.
   My Thoughts; This author comes very highly recommended to me by a very good friend. She has been saying "Read Her" for months now and I finally got a chance to try one of her books.
  I had my likes and dislikes but mostly just a lot of like. I like the characters. Helena is a pigheaded, strong willed woman who takes no crap from anyone. Dustin is the typical rich boy who is trying to make his Mom happy so he makes all the wrong decisions. Erik is the totally hot "friend" that will just tell you how it is whether you wanna hear it or not. I liked the story line. I like the angst, well who am I kidding, we all know I LOVE angst.
   The only thing I did not like about this book and it is a huge thing with me, is the time jump. When something crucial happens and I turn the page and see blah blah years later a part of me just cringes. I don't know why. But no matter how many books I read like this it always drops the rating for me a little. It is totally a personal thing and in no way reflects on the story or the writer.
   Now that we have gotten my mental issues out of the way, let's continue.
Reading this book was an emotional experience to say the least. I would get so mad with the characters that, at one point, I was actually talking out loud to them. I would get so overcome by the *ahem* that I would have to check to make sure I wasn't drooling. I was literally stressing over how this would end all the way to the last page. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who loves a good romance novel.
**Note, this book contains a menage. m/f/m and also m/m and m/f relationships.
   My thoughts;
You can not be serious?!? Did it just end like that???
  When I started this book I was convince that I had read somewhere that this was the final installment in this series. I started reading this series a couple of years ago and have been hooked ever since. I fell so deeply in love with these characters that even when I didn't particularly care for one of the books I still loved it.
    "I have been anticipating this book, not just because I am so attached to this series but also because I did think it was the final one. I went into it ready to say goodbye, ready to leave it behind with so many other series that I have loved and still hold dear to my heart."
   But now? Now I am wondering if this was really the end...... surely there is MORE. I feel, I feel.... UGH!!!! I have always said that Rachel Caine is the queen of cliffhangers and THIS proves it. I have searched the internet before typing this up to see if I could find even just a whisper about a future book. I have found nothing. I want more, I NEED more. I don't know if I can live with this being THE END.
  Fans of this series who have yet to read..... get ready!!! Those who have yet to start it, I promise you, it is worth it. For a book to totally consume you and turn you into an emotional wreck, well let's just say that is the work of a very gifted author. And if this is the final book and I am left with so much "What happens now?" I will forever hold these books and these characters in my heart. And hey, I can always go back to the beginning and live this story all over again.....right?  *sniff*
He raised his eyebrows, clearly amused. "I didn't do anything," he said. "Totally not my fault."
  "Stop being so..."
  "Charming? Attractive? Irresistible?"
  "I was gonna say arrogant."
  "Or maybe it's just that Oliver is in her pocket all the time," Shane said. "I am saying pocket because there's a deceased minor present, but by pocket I mean pants."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok, so I usually only do two but since they are both Shane.... coincidence? probably not..... I am doing an extra one. Maybe a litttle Michael?? Yeah.....

  "Relax," she said, an held his gaze. " I know I could do it. But I won't. I know it would put you in a bad position, for one thing. Props for not saying that, by the way."
   "It wouldn't matter what happen to me," he said, and brushed the hair back from her face with gentle fingers. "You know that."

**This story is rated "Hot" (4 out of 5 flames) and contains M/F/M and F/M pairings.**

   My thoughts; Wow, who knew the Zombie Apocalypse was gonna be so HOT???
My girls over at TwinsieTalk recommended this book to me. Angie J is a HUGE zombie fan and she told me it was an awesome read. Well being that I trust my girls wholeheartedly, I bought the book and started it ASAP.
  I feel I must say this before I start my review. I love Zombies, I have watched a bazillion Zombie movies going all the way back to "Night of the Living Dead" when I was a kid and my Mom thought I was sleeping. But what I was really doing was watching TV around the corner. Because obviously I was old enough to handle a classic horror movie that was playing on late night television. That being said, I have never read a zombie book. This was my very first! And I am so glad that I loved it as much as I did. Had I not loved it I may have completely gave up on the genre before I every really got started.

 When I started this book I was expecting it to kind of ease into the story. Wrong! It literally started with a bang and I was immediately hooked. There was not one dull moment from the time I started reading page one until I finished reading the last. These characters are fighting for survival and they will do whatever it takes to not only survive but protect each other.
   I found myself thinking, what would I do? Would I hide out and be afraid or would I fight to live? How would I feel if I were suddenly the only person left? And what would I do when I realized I wasn't?
   These are the same things that the characters are faced with. And really, being trapped in this horrible world all alone with these characters was one of the best places a book has taken me all year. I would gladly return to their world and live out the apocalypse with them side by side.
Or sadly.... as I am sure my future would pan out....I WOULD GET EATEN!!!

NOW......... I have a surprise for you all!!!

I spoke with Kylie by email when I finished reading Flesh and she very generously offered to give away a free eBook copy so all you have to do is check out the CONTEST tab at the top of this page or enter below... GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

Friday Favorites....

Friday Favorites is an idea I had where I will be sharing with you, some of my favorite bookish things.

This weeks Friday Favorite is going to be a list of the things that I love most about reading. Counting down ten of my favorite things with pictures......

"Letting go of a good book is hard, but loving a book that much is one of the greatest things about reading"

"Sometimes you can get so swept away by a fantasy world that when you close the book, everything around you just makes you feel.... BLAH"

"That what you are reading isn't important as long as you are reading what you LOVE"

 "Finding new characters that immediately feel like family"

 "That total escape you feel while reading. No matter what is going on in your real life you can put it all away even if just for a little while"

 "When you find someone else who loves the characters of a book as much as you do"
 "When books are made into movies. We all line up to watch them so we can complain when the producers, screenwriter, and directors do it ALL wrong"

"When an author writes such a extraordinary story that you feel as though you are living it"

"Falling in LOVE"

"Over and Over again...."

Tell me what YOU love about books
