One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

4 Stars

(Night Huntress #2)
You can run from the grave, but you can't hide . . .

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever . . . and that Bones won't let her get away again.

My thoughts; I was very upset with Cat at the end of Halfway to the Grave. I kept asking myself how she could leave Bones behind, was she insane? Then I really thought about it and, given the choices she had, she made the decision that she felt was best. While I still don't agree, I can't fault her for it. I was pleasantly surprised by the relationship that Cat forged with the soliders she was basically forced to train. She bonded with them on a deep level and now stays because she chooses too. Bones, true to his "you can run but you can't hide" vow, comes back into the picture in full force. Which lets face it, is the only way he does things. He is one vamp that is definitely THUD-worthy!! There are plenty of sexy times and one chapter in particular will have you running to the nearest cold shower. *blush* I am looking forward to seeing how this series plays out.

Happy Reading!! :-)
